From 12 August 2026, the new EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) applies.
Why this is economically unsustainable for a small retail business:
Anyone who ships even a single package to another EU country must appoint an expensive authorised representative there (often several hundred euros per country and year – regardless of volume).
Shipping to multiple countries quickly adds up to several thousand euros in fixed costs annually, often for just a few packages.
There is no exception and no de minimis threshold for small businesses.
Large corporations can handle this easily – for us as a small retailer, the effort and costs are catastrophic.
That’s why I am discontinuing shipping to the EU and will only deliver within Germany and non-EU countries from now on until further notice.
